Yeah, I wanted to quote "Have a Cigar" by Pink Floyd - "Come in here dear boy, have a cigar you're gonna go far. You're gonna fly high, you're never gonna die, you're gonna make it if you try, they're gonna love you". But it was too long and I defaulted to a lesser known Dave Matthews Band quote.

@Jessica

Hey Jessica, thanks for the read and question! I'll be honest with you, I've found that a 70/30 diet to be a more sustainable long term lifestyle change. What this means for me, is that during the week I cook 100% paleo-compliant foods for at least 2 if not 3 meals out of the day. I might get a coffee and throw a little cream in there sometimes, or grab some pad thai (it's a weakness) for lunch, but the bulk of what I eat is all good. Obviously the weekends are a little more lax, and I allow myself some alcohol consumption though nothing too exorbitant (unless it's a special occasion).

I have found that this type of lifestyle, while continuing to exercise and such, has allowed me to keep very lean and perform well in the gym. Honestly, when I fall off the wagon hard for a week or so (as happened somewhat over the holidays), I definitely notice myself not feeling well or performing very well.

So yes, after you go paleo, there's a pretty good bet you won't want to go back. Looking, feeling, and performing better can get pretty addictive.

...As far as resisting cheating, I just try to surround myself with other great options for snack attacks. I'd check out The Clothes Makes the Girl for some great snack options. Other than that, it really is just a matter of raw willpower the first couple weeks, after which I think it gets much easier... Then after another couple weeks, you'll stop having the urge for much of the "bad" stuff altogether. At least that's how it worked for me!

Hi Luke!

I just started a fitness program called "Crossfit" and am going to be doing the Whole 30 on the 16th with a girlfriend from Crossfit for support. It's been a while since you started the Paleo lifestyle, how are you doing? How do you FEEL? I have to say that I am very interested in Paleo now that I have learned the dangers of dairy but love dairy all at the same time so I am really interested to know how you are doing with the change and how creative do you have to get to keep your brain from urging you to cheat!

@Audrey Oberg

Haha, well thank you Audrey. It was pretty hilarious, and seemed completely random.... However, now I realize it was a strategic move, and totally worked!

@Drew

Actually, I was too cheap to buy a yearbook back in high school, so I don't actually remember what was said... But Zepplin would be a good guess.

@Niall

Oh you know it buddy, there's no quitting over here... Just resting for a bit and regrouping. Not resting on the lifting though, so don't worry, I'm not turning into a complete fatty.
